DeAne G. Matthew, MA
Licensed Mental Health Counselor FL License MH9773

Originally, DeAne Matthew’s passion for working
with psychological and life issues began while she
provided patiant care to older adults as a certified
nurse’s assistant in various medical environments.
She discovered there was a gap in terms of
appropriate mental health treatment for geriatrics
and thus began her personal quest in understanding
specific mental health issues that older adults are
faced with within our society. She then completed
her undergraduate studies at Southern Adventist University in TN with a
Bachelor's of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in biological
and pre-medical studies in 2003.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree, DeAne decided to persevere and
continued her career in mental health and then obtained a Master’s of
Science in Clinical Psychology in 2005 from the University of Central
Florida - Daytona Beach. During her years as a graduate student, DeAne
had the privilege to work as a UCF research assistant and traveled the US
presenting on identity formation in college students and in individuals with
substance abuse issues with the UCF Daytona Beach graduate
psychological research team. During this time in her life, she began also
working with individuals with mood disorders, anxiety issues, identity
concerns, and grief issues and developed the ability to be clinically fluid in
dealing with a wide variety of psychological and relationship concerns.
Today, DeAne is Licensed Mental Health Counselor (FL Lic # MH

years, and has an extensive background in working with a wide population
of clients. She specializes in identity formation and works with all age
groups on coping with transition issues as related to jobs, relationships,
identity and stages of life. Her approach to counseling is an integration of
cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, and eclectic therapies and she is proud to
be able to be an empathic clinician as she embraces diversity in her clients.
